Kenneth H. Williams steps from behind the mixing console to center stage after having an amazing career as a live mixing

engineer for artist ranging from Norman Brown, Childish Gambino, Raphael Saadiq, LL Cool J and Erykah Badu to

name a few. But not many know that he is an accomplished

songwriter as well, having honed his craft during time at Almo

Irving music and placing songs with artist on Solar Records,

Sony Tree Music, Mo’Jazz as well as Concord Peak and

SteelChest Music (owned by Al McKay guitarist and writer

formerly with Earth, Wind & Fire).

He has numerous national and international tours under his belt,

from LA to Australia, the Islands, and all points in between,

even spending six years with ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ as a studio mixer and as FOH concert mixer for the Tonight Show’s Summer Concert Series and mixing “Passions” the soap

opera for a period, As well as being interviewed in Mix Magazine’s November 2009 edition on his work with Erykah Badu. 

Kenneth is the brother of well-known blues piano player and songwriter, the late Emery “Detroit Jr” Williams who was the pianist for blues legend Howlin’ Wolf, as well as songwriter

for Albert King, Koko Taylor and many others having written the blues classic “Call My Job” made famous by Albert King and although guitarists like Curtis Mayfield, Al McKay, and Ernie

Isley were strong influences of Kenneth’s. it’s very fitting that the first release on Alternator Records would be “Chicago Blues” a song that came to Kenneth through memories of his

brother Detroit and during his recovery from esophageal cancer and through a random conversation with famed engineer, writer, producer and as it would turn out, unknown to Kenneth,

A&R Rep for Alternator Records.

 

More Facts

Kenneth has had songs placed in Showtime's drama series, “Resurrection Blvd.”, and on “NBC News”, as well as with numerous artists. He wrote “God Bless The Road” with Grammy-winning writers, Denise Rich and Sami McKinney for Martha Wash and is currently featured on Grammy-award winning jazz guitarist, Norman Brown's "I Need You", a song he co-wrote

with Norman and played, recorded and co-produced the song with Grammy-winning smooth jazz producer, Paul Brown. In the song, you’ll hear Kenneth’s background vocals as well as acoustic guitar playing.
